A service quote and an ownership calculation answer different questions. Before comparing numbers, confirm whether the rate includes only flight work or the complete field operation.

Service Hiring Versus Owning the System
Hiring a spraying service converts much of the equipment and staffing burden into a job rate. Ownership can make sense when utilization is sufficient, but the buyer then carries training, maintenance, battery management, transport and idle-time risk.

Published capacities describe the platform configuration. Actual acres completed per hour still depend on application rate and operating conditions.

- Comparing different scopes. One rate may include transport and mixing while another covers flight labor only.
- Using maximum capacity as daily output. Refill, charging, relocation and weather delays must be included.
- Ignoring chemical and water logistics. The ground workflow can become the limiting factor.
- Leaving maintenance unpriced. Wear parts, cleaning and battery replacement affect ownership cost.
